Wednesday, October 2, 2013 – Auburn, AL to Meridian, MS

We had an exciting morning in Auburn. Just as I was getting ready to go to the fitness center of the hotel to have a little workout before hitting the road again, the power in the entire hotel went out! Never a dull moment. We re-packed our bags and just waited it out, trying to figure out what to do if the power stayed out through our scheduled departure time. (Our producer is really strict about the schedule!) The hotel staff was willing to help get us down. Our room was on the 4th floor! We floated the idea of calling the fire department. Then the power came back on. We actually rolled out of Auburn ahead of schedule by 5 minutes! The Beast was nice and clean. It had gone through the carwash in Auburn so the windows were nice and clean for photos.

Our route took us to Selma, AL for lunch. The Twitter-verse has been super helpful in directing us to great lunch places. We drove over the Edmund Pettus Bridge and hit Water Street which has seen a lot of history from Civil War time to Civil Rights movement.
